New England farms are traditionally slower in the cool months, but all is not lost. The Somerville Winter Farmers Market at The Armory has you covered. Think hearty vegetables: carrots, beets, and the often overlooked rutabaga. Dozens of vendors flock to the winter market each Saturday. The Somerville Armory is an enchanting two-level space where you can purchase locally sourced produce, breads, speciality sauces, honey, meats, fish, and plants. You can also "window shop" while enjoying live music and a snack from the cafe.
The winter market begins in December and runs through mid April. Check their Facebook page for the latest on events and guest vendors.
